French classes in Hyderabad

Hyderabad's Alliance Française runs e-TEF Canada rather than TCF Canada, and its own site is unusually specific about readiness: it recommends B2 level, stated as roughly 660 hours of French, before sitting the exam. Individual Express Entry candidates still make up most bookings, though Sanofi's and Safran's local operations add a corporate layer of learners that is rare elsewhere in India.

Hyderabad's pharmaceutical and contract-research businesses export heavily into Latin America and Europe, which makes Spanish and Portuguese unusually commercial here compared with the rest of India. Regulatory and dossier work drives more of the demand than conversation does.

Overwhelmingly Canadian permanent residence. French proficiency is one of the highest-value additions available to an Express Entry score, and the TEF or TCF sitting already costs around ₹26,000 — so the preparation decision is about not wasting it.

Sanofi's Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad has grown from around 400 employees in 2019 to roughly 4,500 in 2026, making it one of the company's four strategic global hubs and among the top three Sanofi GCCs in India by headcount. It is a large enough French employer that a handful of learners each year study for internal mobility into a Paris-facing role rather than for a Canada file.

Safran's new LEAP engine maintenance facility at the GMR Aerospace park, inside the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport special economic zone, is backed by a €200 million investment and starts with a workforce of around 250, ramping towards more than 1,100 specialists at a capacity of up to 300 engines a year, one of the highest-capacity LEAP overhaul sites anywhere. Safran is also building an on-site training academy meant to train more than 100 technicians and engineers a year, and next to the LEAP facility sits Safran's first site outside France built to maintain the M88 engine that powers the Rafale. Between them, Sanofi and Safran give Hyderabad a French-employer base most Indian cities on this list do not have.

Alliance Française Hyderabad runs e-TEF Canada and states on its own exam page that a candidate should have around B2 level, put at roughly 660 hours of study, before booking a seat. It does not run TCF Canada; a candidate who wants that exam specifically has to travel, and Bengaluru, roughly 570 km south, is the closer option.

A Safran or Sanofi employee working towards an internal French-facing role is training for a different outcome than an Express Entry candidate, and the 660-hour guideline the exam centre itself publishes is a reasonable target for either path, since B2 is roughly what both a Canada file and an internal transfer conversation need. At a plausible nine hours a week of combined class and self-study, that 660-hour figure works out to about 73 weeks, a year and five months, a realistic span to plan a GCC or MRO career move around, since shift-based aerospace and GCC hours rarely leave room for a faster pace.
