Korean classes in Pune

Pune already has more reasons to need Korean than most Indian cities: it is the only place in western India with a designated TOPIK test centre, and it sits inside the Chakan-Talegaon corridor where Korean manufacturers are now building plants of their own rather than only supplying German ones. LG Electronics and POSCO already run factories here, and Hyundai Motor India's second Indian plant is coming up a few kilometres further down the same road.

Pune is the densest concentration of German-owned and German-supplying manufacturing in India. The Chakan, Ranjangaon and Talegaon belts are full of tier-one suppliers reporting into German parent companies, and Hinjawadi's IT firms run delivery for German and Japanese clients. It is the one Indian city where we teach on site as often as online.

LG Electronics runs its Ranjangaon plant, about 40 km from Pune, making refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and televisions; a 2023 expansion added a dedicated side-by-side refrigerator line worth around ₹200 crore. POSCO's India Pune Processing Center, at Talegaon MIDC, runs the blanking, slitting and shearing lines that turn steel into automotive and electronics-grade sheet for customers nearby. Both plants report into Korean parent companies, and both need staff who can follow a spec sheet or sit in on a review call without waiting on a translator.

The bigger shift is at Talegaon Dabhade, where Hyundai Motor India is building its second Indian plant after Chennai, with the first phase due to start production in the second half of 2026. Alongside it, Hyundai Steel and eight supplier companies, Sungwoo Hitech, NVH India, PHA India, Komos Automotive, Doowon Automotive, Paracoat Products and Movemax System Logistics, have taken around 70 acres in the same industrial area under a ₹2,260 crore investment. That is a vendor cluster being built from nothing, and vendor liaison roles are usually the first Korean-language hires a new plant makes.

The Indo Korean Center, run by the Youth Build Foundation in Balewadi, is recognised by Korea's National Institute for International Education as an official overseas TOPIK institution, which makes Pune the only city in western India with its own test centre rather than a redirect to Delhi or Bengaluru. The same address also runs as a King Sejong Institute branch, so preparation and the exam itself sit under one roof. TOPIK runs several times a year across India, but not every centre sits every round, so check the Indo Korean Center's own registration notice, or plan around Bengaluru or Delhi as a backup, before fixing a date.

The Indo Korean Center's own King Sejong Institute curriculum, built on the foundation's standard textbook, runs seven levels at 60 hours of instruction each, with a level taking roughly 3.5 months as a semester. Finishing all seven levels is around 420 hours of classroom time, spread across two years of semesters taken one at a time. A learner working towards TOPIK I only needs the earlier levels; someone aiming at TOPIK II Level 3 or 4 should plan on four to six of the seven, which works out to 240 to 360 hours, or somewhere between one and a half and two years at the centre's own pace.
